We Three Kings of South Beach

After a year of speculation and anticipation, LeBron "King" James announced on a publicly aired ESPN interview his new team, following offers from various teams, including the Bulls, the Knicks and the Heat.

Calm and collected during his interview, LeBron said all the right things so as not to stir up too much controversy. He explained his perspective cautiously, trying not to step on any toes in the process.

Just one day prior to his decision, Chris Bosh, formerly of the Toronto Raptors announced his signing with the Miami Heat. With all star Dwayne Wade already a big part of the franchise, the Miami Heat were set to welcome the King to Miami.

The Miami faithful were ecstatic with the LeBron's choice, having witnessed the trades the Boston Celtics made to produce a team with similar star power. During that 2007-2008 season in which Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce were united NBA fans witnessed a successful turnaround of the franchise. Miami fans are expecting a championship ring - one on each finger - and nothing less. Below, the reaction filmed in a Miami sports bar.

However, Cleveland fans will not be very forgiving and will seemingly carry the grudge for a long time. A native of Akron, Ohio, LeBron is considered Cleveland's prince turned king. Now, all is left is seven seasons of disappointment, a highlight reel that will be continued in Miami but no rings nor jerseys, only a pile of ashes.

It's understandable that the fans are upset and angry, but jersey burning seems almost distasteful. The justification is that LeBron, if truly a king, would have been able to single-handedly turn his supporting cast into championship caliber players. However, he did not quite have the Midas touch. Many view his decision as a cop out, taking away from his own dynasty and resorting to the easy road.

However, LeBron did make it clear that he was looking to the future, a future of championships and more importantly happiness. It seems the obvious choice that he choose to play with the best in the world and that he will most likely have fun doing so. Regardless of what naysayers may be griming about, it is certain that the East will be able to compete, that the Lakers and Celtics will have more to worry about and that Will Smith's hit song will be revived for at least a few weeks.
